Back of the net! Supporting girls’ football in the North East

The 2018/19 Northumberland FA Girls Cup action drew to a close last weekend, with three teams emerging victorious at Whitley Park.
Wade Financial served as this season’s sponsors of the U12, U14 and U16 Northumberland FA Girls Cup competitions, supporting the growth and development of girls’ football in the region.
In the first of Saturday’s games, Ponteland United put in a stellar performance against a hardworking Newcastle West End side, winning the Under-14 trophy with a superb 13-0 victory. Later that afternoon, Forest Hall Juniors faced off against another of Ponteland’s teams in the Under-16 final, with the former running out 3-0 winners.
On Sunday morning, Newcastle East End Juniors clinched the Under-12 competition with a hard-won 3-1 triumph over Wallsend B.C. Crusaders. The well-contested finale wrapped up the NFA’s junior girls’ knockout competition for another year.
“Congratulations to all of the teams featuring in the NFA’s finals weekend,” said Wade Financial adviser David Dodds. David, a UEFA-licensed girls’ football coach himself, was impressed with the tenacity and quality on show across both days.
“There was some really excellent football played across the three finals,” he said. “We’re thrilled to have supported the junior Girls Cup programme this year, as we’re committed to providing as many opportunities for girls to get in the game as possible, in our community and beyond.
“It’s been a magnificent season, and we’re already looking forward to it all kicking off again soon!”
