Crossing the whitewash with Percy Park RFC

Wade Financial have helped Percy Park RFC score major points with their community and apprenticeship programmes – with the latter already proving an early winner.
Percy Park has partnered with The Royal Foundation Coach Core programme, affording young people opportunities to gain crucial work experience, training and qualifications.
The programme, supported by Tyne and Wear Sport and Northumberland’s RFU development team, already has one promising new signing: 1st XV hooker Adam Hay. The 19-year-old was appointed as Percy Park’s Community Development Officer last year, and will benefit from the Coach Core’s extensive training programme, working towards a Level 2 Community Activator Coach qualification and gaining experience in a range of disciplines.
“Wade Financial have embraced the programme. In doing so, they have provided Percy Park with their support to help Adam deliver his project,” says Keith Atkinson, Academy Manger at Percy Park.
Wade Financial has also backed the rugby club’s community programme, encouraging children at a host of local primary schools to get involved in the game. “Wades have championed Percy Park Rugby for many years and have always looked to encourage young people’s involvement in sport,” says Keith. “Percy Park will always be indebted for their sponsorship.”
David Dodds, financial planner at Wade Financial, has seen first hand the impact of the club’s work in the community. “For years, Percy Park have been working hard to get more young people down to Preston Avenue to get involved in rugby,” he says.
“That commitment to building an inclusive rugby community in North Shields is one of the reasons we got involved in 2015, and we’re immensely proud to be part of that growth. To see so many schoolchildren actively taking part in the community programme has been incredible, and we’re thrilled to see hungry, ambitious youngsters like Adam gaining skills and experience, too.”
